Your PTO dollars at Work

Your PTO Dollars at Work
Supporting the PTO through our Kids are Key campaign helps fund many enrichment activities for your child. Approximately 25% of the families donate to the campaign. We'd like to see 100% of our families helping to support enrichment at Highcrest.  If you haven't already, please consider making a donation today by clicking here!

Below are a handful of ways your donation filters directly down to your child.

Bike Safety Education
The PTO hosts two Bike to School days which includes training and education from the Chicago Bike Federation.

Service Learning Projects ($2,500)
Make a Difference Day (Fall)  and The Kindness Connection (Winter) are two events in particular that give our children opportunities to help others in need.

Student Council
While this year's Student Council is just beginning, we can tell you that they will certainly be a force of good will.  Last year, the Student Council coordinated Spirit Week, collected books for donations, and helped improve school lunch selection with their lunch survey.  Fundraising also took place in the form of cell phone/printer cartridge recycling, ticket sales to the Student vs. Staff basketball game, and doughnut sales.  Beneficiaries of these philanthropic efforts were
Special Olympics and the Heiffer Foundation.

Teacher Appreciation
Each year the PTO hosts two luncheons for our hard working teachers.  It's just one small way we, as a parent community, can show our appreciation for all their effort.

Giving
The PTO made a generous donation to the school to purchase five Smart Boards.  Click here for a demonstration on how teachers can use the boards to enrich the curriculum taught to our children. Donations were also made to the Family Awareness Network, Youth Connection, and the District 39 Educational Foundation.  These three organizations bring opportunities and services that enhance the Highcrest experience.
